gINT LICENSING OPTIONS

gINT Software offers a number of licensing options for gINT products:

Location-based Licenses: Single-User and Local-Area Network (LAN)

Location-based licensing is on a per-office-location basis. Each office (separate street address) within an organization must purchase its own licenses. Licenses issued to any one office within an organization are for the exclusive use of that office. Sharing of software, components, and/or licenses between offices is prohibited by the terms of the gINT Software End User License Agreement (EULA).

Single-User Licenses

Each single-user license allows one office to operate the software on a single workstation by means of a software license (or, if purchased, a hardware key).

Software licenses must be registered to a specific machine. However, with a hardware key you may install gINT on as many computers as desired and then share a gINT license between computers by moving the hardware key. For single-user licenses you can purchase optional hardware keys at any time.

LAN Licenses

Location-based LAN licenses allow an unlimited number of users within a single office (one location) to access gINT over a LAN. The number of simultaneous gINT users is limited to the number of licenses owned (for example, if you own a three-user license, then up to three people can use the software at a time). This type of license typically becomes cost-effective if you have several part-time users at one location. Whether a network license is worthwhile depends on how many users you are likely to have in a single location and whether they are full-time or part-time users.

Location-based LAN licenses cannot be used over a WAN (a network spanning multiple office locations). WAN licenses may be purchased separately for multiple-office use; please see details in the section “WAN Licenses” below. For information about converting location-based licenses to WAN licenses, see the “License Upgrades” section.

WAN Licenses

WAN licenses can be installed at multiple locations over a wide area network (WAN). WAN licenses can be a great benefit to organizations with several small offices having part-time gINT users, but who have no need for gINT licenses to be available full-time in each location. If several offices can share a copy or a few copies of gINT, then WAN licenses may make financial sense for an organization. In that case, an organization can avoid the expense of having to buy a primary license (in the location-based system) for each office location.

An organization can start small, perhaps with one shareable WAN license, and determine future needs from that point. Additional WAN licenses may be subsequently purchased and added to the company WAN setup at any time, apart from and in addition to any existing location-based gINT licenses. gINT WAN licenses can be either purchased as an “addon” product for existing customers currently using location-based licenses or for new customers with no other gINT products.

Timed Licenses

Timed Licenses allow you to use gINT Software for a fixed period of time. They are essentially license leases using a single-user USB key. For added convenience, Timed Licenses are "mobile", i.e., they are not location-restricted; they may be used at any location by users within your company. License keys are shipped activated and ready to use. You may renew time on the key as often as you like. You may request credit for unexpired time toward the purchase of a standard gINT license. gINT projects created using a Timed License remain available on your system for access by other users with any valid gINT license.

On-Demand Licenses

gINT On Demand is a metered version of gINT Professional that enables users to track real-time usage accurately, a benefit to companies that can expense software usage to projects for reimbursement. Expensing software to projects enables companies to reduce operational costs and improve profitability by saving the capital expense of traditional software license purchases. gINT On Demand users have continual access to the latest version of gINT Professional and full access to free technical support without having to pay maintenance fees. Project data is stored locally, as is the gINT program; only the on-demand licensing file is web-hosted remotely. gINT On Demand licensing is managed by Cetrus, Inc.

Other Licensing Options

gINT Product Upgrades

You may upgrade to other gINT products (for example, from gINT Logs to gINT Professional) by paying the difference between the price paid for the original product purchased and the current price of the new product.

License Upgrades

You may convert single-user licenses to location-based network or WAN licenses. If you convert from a single-user license with a hardware key to a network or WAN license, YOU MUST RETURN YOUR HARDWARE KEYS to us or a replacement fee will be incurred. Software licenses of stand-alone gINT products must also be deactivated when a license is converted.

Multi-Office Discounts

We offer significant discounts for simultaneous multiple-office purchases. Please contact us for a quote. Please note that there are no cumulative discounts for location-based licenses, only volume discounts (that is, what counts is the number of licenses purchased at one time).
